About Lessons
Infant Swimming Resource’s proprietary Self-Rescue™ survival swimming program is a 4-6 week course, scheduled 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, for up to 10 minutes each day.
With a focus on safe, customized, one-on-one lessons by certified Instructors, ISR’s survival swimming lessons emphasize health, ongoing program evaluations and parent education to deliver the most effective and safest results in the industry.
Children may begin lessons at 6 months of age until 6 years of age.
•Lessons for a 6-12 month old focus on teaching the child to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and to be able to maintain this lifesaving position until help arrives.
•Lessons for children 1-6 years old focus on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence.
Children learn to swim with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool, where they can either crawl out or continue until they can be rescued.
Once the children are fully skilled they will practice ISR’s survival techniques fully clothed during lessons. It is recommended that children complete refresher lessons to help their in-water skill level grow with their physical development.
If you or your babysitter, neighbor or grandparents have a backyard pool, lake, pond, canal or other water hazard or if your vacation house will have any of them, consider these skills completely necessary for your child’s safety.
Scheduling your lessons:
To register with ISR, every student will complete a detailed registration form that includes medical history. Certain medical conditions will require more information submitted to the RET and may require a release from your doctor. There is an initial registration fee of $105.00 that is made payable to ISR Inc, for the first year and then a $35.00 registration fee each year after. After you have completed your registration and paid your registration fee, you will receive an email with a coupon for $15 to use at the Seal Store and a link to the digital Parent Resource Book (please read).
Tuition is paid directly to the instructor at the beginning of lessons. The cost is $125/week, which makes the total for the 4 week session (for a child 6-12 mo.) $500.00 and for the 6 week session (children 1-6 yrs.) $750.00. Payment schedules are specific to each instructor. Fee schedules for maintenance and refresher lessons can be discussed directly with the instructor.
